Rhizosphere
The rhizosphere analogy is structural: both involve heterogeneous entities with different capabilities and constraints interacting under changing conditions to create outcomes that cannot be attributed completely to any single participant.

In plain words
Historical inspiration. The original regenerative systems research drew on the rhizosphere, the zone around a living root where heterogeneous participants exchange resources, respond to signals and influence one another. It shaped the Model's concepts of relationship, exchange and feedback. It is a historical and ecological example, not OpenRSN's explanatory foundation: that is the open, interoperable protocol foundation of the Internet, extended to identity, meaning, authority and governed coordination ([01 §2](/specs/01-rsm-concepts-paper#2-from-connected-networks-to-living-systems)). It is not a claim that institutions or markets behave biologically.
